Waimea Valley's annual Kalo & Awa Day is happening September 14, 2019 Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Come join us for a rich day of education and culture with food, vendors, keiki crafts, huli distribution, demonstrations and more. Waimea Valley's Kalo and Awa day is dedicated to the education and conservation of kalo and awa, two highly significant plants in the Hawaiian culture. This free event includes kalo & awa classes, food samples and cultivation demonstrations throughout the valley. Kalo is the staple food of the Hawaiian people and awa is a medicinal plant used for its healing properties by everyone from gods & goddesses to high ranking royalty to the people.
