Come and join us on Thursday, October 10, 2019 for this Preconference Session, to be held the day priot to HANOCON 2019. A Disaster DIET: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Transformation Before, During, and After Emergencies Facilitated by Dr. S. Atyia Martin and D'Janapha Fortune, All Aces, Inc. Hawaiʻi has recently experienced several major natural disasters - from severe flooding on Kauaʻi, to the volcanic eruption and lava devastation on Hawaiʻi Island - making disaster management and recovery a more integral part of the work our nonprofits must do to support their communities. This session begins with an interactive activity that will facilitate a more sophisticated conversation and action-oriented learning on the critical role of resilience and equity in all phases of emergency management. Participants will walk away with tools to support their role in the ongoing practice of equitably improving the ability of people, organizations, systems, and assets to thrive in the face of chronic stresses and acute shocks. All Aces team members will provide contexts and tools based on a participant-driven process.
